Cheddar Kimchi Toast with Hot Honey Drizzle
Ingredients
- 4 slices of bread (preferably sourdough or your preferred choice)
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 2 tablespoons butter (softened)
- 1/2 cup kimchi, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon hot honey
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon furikake (Japanese seasoning)
- 2 tablespoons chives, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons scallions, finely chopped
Instructions
1. Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Prepare the Cheddar Mixture:
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the shredded cheddar cheese, eggs, mustard, a pinch of salt, pepper, and paprika. Mix well until fully combined and the mixture is smooth.
3. Butter the Bread:
Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread. Place the slices on a baking sheet, buttered side down.
4. Add Cheese Mixture:
Divide the cheddar mixture equally among the four slices of bread, spreading it evenly over the surface.
5. Top With Kimchi and Seasonings:
Evenly distribute the chopped kimchi on top of the cheese mixture. Sprinkle with furikake, chives, and scallions for added flavor and garnish.
6. Bake the Toasts:
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Bake for approximately 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted and the edges of the bread are golden brown and crispy.
7. Finish with Hot Honey:
Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Drizzle hot honey generously over the warm toasts.
8. Serve Immediately:
Slice each piece of toast in half diagonally for easier serving. Enjoy the delicious combination of flavors while warm.
