Savory Sautéed Asparagus with Garlic Butter Soy Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 pound asparagus, trimmed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. Prepare the Asparagus:
- Trim the woody ends from the asparagus spears. You can do this by gently bending each spear until it snaps naturally at the point where the tender part meets the tougher end.
2. Heat Oil and Sauté Garlic:
- In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, or until the garlic is fragrant and begins to lightly brown. Be careful not to let it burn.
3. Cook the Asparagus:
- Add the trimmed asparagus spears to the skillet, ensuring they are evenly distributed.
- Sauté the asparagus with the garlic for about 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. Add Water and Steam:
- Pour 1/4 cup of water directly into the skillet.
- Cover the skillet with a lid and allow the asparagus to steam for 4 minutes, which will help it cook evenly and become tender.
5. Finish with Butter and Soy Sauce:
- Remove the lid from the skillet and continue to cook for an additional 1 minute, allowing the water to mostly evaporate.
- Add 2 tablespoons of butter and 2 tablespoons of soy sauce to the pan. Stir well to coat the asparagus evenly.
- Sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Continue cooking for 2 minutes until the asparagus is tender-crisp and glazed.
6. Serve:
- Transfer the sautéed asparagus to a serving dish.
- Serve hot as a delicious and savory accompaniment to your dinner.
