Oven-Baked Caprese Pizza Salad
Ingredients
- 1 bag of pizza dough (enough for a 12-inch crust)
- 1 head of lettuce, washed and chopped
- 2 medium tomatoes, sliced
- 1/2 cup Italian salad dressing
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- Optional: Additional Italian salad dressing or Ranch dressing for serving
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
2. Prepare the Pizza Crust:
- Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness and shape (about 12 inches in diameter).
- Transfer the dough to a pizza stone or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
3. Bake the Crust:
- Place the dough in the preheated oven and bake for about 10 minutes until it starts to turn golden brown but not fully cooked.
4. Prepare Salad Toppings:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped lettuce and sliced tomatoes.
- Dress the salad with 1/2 cup of Italian dressing, tossing until evenly coated.
5. Add Cheese and Basil:
- Remove the partially baked pizza crust from the oven.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the crust.
- Spread the dressed salad over the mozzarella, distributing evenly.
- Top with fresh basil leaves and a generous amount of grated Parmesan cheese.
6. Bake the Pizza:
- Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 7-10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
7. Serve:
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
- Slice and serve with optional additional Italian dressing or Ranch dressing for extra flavor.
