Homemade Chocolate-Coated Peanut Clusters
Ingredients
- 2 cups honey roasted peanuts
- 12 ounces milk chocolate, coarsely chopped
- 1 cup colorful candy shells
Instructions
1. Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
2. Prepare Baking Sheet:
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This will prevent the clusters from sticking and facilitate easy cleanup.
3. Melt Milk Chocolate:
- Place the coarsely chopped milk chocolate into a heatproof bowl.
- Position the bowl over a pot of simmering water for a double boiler setup. Ensure the bowl does not touch the water.
- Stir the chocolate continuously until it is smoothly melted. Be careful not to overheat.
- Alternatively, microwave the chocolate in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted.
4. Mix Peanuts and Chocolate:
- Remove the bowl from heat once the chocolate is melted.
- Gently fold in the honey roasted peanuts, ensuring each nut is thoroughly coated with the chocolate.
5. Form Clusters:
- Using a tablespoon, drop spoonfuls of the chocolate-peanut mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, forming clusters.
- Leave space between each cluster for easy separation.
6. Add Candy Shells:
- Immediately sprinkle a few colorful candy shells over each cluster for a burst of color and extra crunch.
7. Bake and Set:
- Place the baking sheet in the oven and let it bake for 5 minutes. This helps the chocolate set around the peanuts.
- Remove from the oven and allow clusters to cool completely on the baking sheet. This could take approximately 30-40 minutes, or you can expedite the process by placing them in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
8. Serve or Store:
- Once the chocolate is firm, your Homemade Chocolate-Coated Peanut Clusters are ready to enjoy.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
