Succulent Lemon Paprika Roasted Chicken
Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken (approximately 4 lbs)
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 lemon, zested and juiced
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it reaches the ideal roasting temperature.
2. Prepare the Chicken:
- Remove the chicken from any packaging and pat dry with paper towels. This will help the skin become crispy during cooking.
3. Make the Marinade:
- In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Add the lemon zest and lemon juice, mixing thoroughly to create a well-blended marinade.
4. Season the Chicken:
- Gently separate the skin from the breast of the chicken using your fingers. Be careful not to tear the skin. Use half of the marinade to coat the inside of the skin, then rub the remaining marinade on the outside, ensuring full coverage.
5. Prepare for Roasting:
- Place the chicken breast side up on a roasting rack inside a roasting pan. Tuck the wings under the body and, if desired, tie the legs together with kitchen twine for even cooking.
6. Roast the Chicken:
- Place the chicken in the preheated oven. Roast for approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes (PT1H20M) or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) when measured at the thickest part of the thigh.
7. Rest and Serve:
