Stove-Top Creamy Deviled Egg Dip
Ingredients
- 4 large egg yolks
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon paprika, plus extra for garnish
Instructions
1. Prepare the Egg Yolks:
- Place a small saucepan on the stove over medium heat.
- Add the egg yolks, stirring constantly until they begin to thicken, approximately PT3M (3 minutes). Be careful not to overcook or scramble them; you want a smooth consistency.
2. Incorporate the Butter:
- Gradually add the butter to the egg yolks, stirring continuously. Allow the butter to melt completely and blend with the yolks, approximately PT2M (2 minutes).
3. Mix in the Creamy Components:
- Reduce the heat to low, and add the mayonnaise, sour cream, and cream cheese to the yolk mixture.
- Stir until the mixture is smooth and completely integrated, about PT5M (5 minutes).
4. Season the Dip:
- Add the Dijon mustard and paprika to the pot, folding them into the creamy mixture until well combined, approximately PT1M (1 minute).
5. Finish and Serve:
- Remove the saucepan from heat and transfer the dip to a serving dish.
- Sprinkle a pinch of paprika on top for garnish.
- Allow it to cool slightly before serving. The dip can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature with crackers, bread, or fresh vegetables.
