Cinnamon Apple Almond Cake
Ingredients
- 3 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup almond flakes
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Prepare the Apples:
- Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples. Set aside.
3. Mix the Wet Ingredients:
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs and granulated sugar together until the mixture is pale and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
- Add the vanilla extract and melted butter, mixing well to combine.
- Pour in the whole milk and stir until smooth.
4. Combine Dry Ingredients:
- In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until everything is just combined. Don't overmix.
5. Assemble the Cake:
- Gently fold the sliced apples into the batter until they are evenly distributed.
- Grease a 9-inch round cake pan with butter. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
- Sprinkle the almond flakes on top of the batter.
6. Bake:
- Place the cake in the preheated oven and bake for about 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
7. Cool and Serve:
- Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
- Turn out onto a wire rack and let it cool completely.
- Once cool, dust the cake with powdered sugar before serving.
