Hearty Stove-Top Chili with Frito Crunch
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 can (15 oz) chili magic beans
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (10 oz) diced tomatoes with green chiles
- 2 tablespoons jarred minced garlic
- 2 tablespoons dried minced onions
- 2 cups Fritos corn chips
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend recommended)
- 1 cup sour cream
- Hot sauce, to taste
Instructions
1. Prepare the Ground Beef
In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat over medium-high heat. Add 1 pound of ground beef and cook, stirring frequently, until browned and no longer pink, about 7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
2. Build the Chili Base
Add 2 tablespoons of jarred minced garlic and 2 tablespoons of dried minced onions to the pot with the ground beef. Stir and cook for 1 minute until aromatic.
3. Add the Tomatoes and Beans
Pour in the can of diced tomatoes, diced tomatoes with green chiles, and the can of chili magic beans (do not drain any liquids). Stir well to combine.
4. Simmer the Mixture
Reduce heat to low, cover the pot, and let the chili simmer for PT30M (30 minutes), allowing flavors to meld, stirring occasionally.
5. Prepare Toppings
While the chili simmers, organize the toppings: Measure 2 cups of Fritos and 1 cup of shredded cheese, and set out the sour cream.
6. Adjust Seasoning
After simmering, taste the chili and add hot sauce as desired. Adjust salt and pepper according to your preference.
7. Serve the Chili
Ladle the hearty chili into bowls, topping each with a generous serving of Fritos and a sprinkle of shredded cheese. Add a dollop of sour cream on top to balance the flavors. Enjoy your meal!
