Maple-Glazed Sweet Potatoes with Cinnamon
Ingredients
- 4 medium sweet potatoes (about 2 pounds)
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and allow it to preheat while you prepare the sweet potatoes.
2. Prepare the Sweet Potatoes:
Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into 1-inch thick rounds. Aim for uniform slices to ensure even cooking.
3. Parboil the Sweet Potatoes:
Place the sweet potato slices in a pot of water. Bring the pot to a boil and let the potatoes cook for 5 minutes to soften slightly. This step ensures they cook evenly in the oven. Drain and set aside.
4. Make the Maple Glaze:
In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Add the maple syrup, ground cinnamon, and salt. Stir continuously until the ingredients are well combined and the glaze is smooth. Remove from heat.
5. Arrange the Sweet Potatoes:
Place the parboiled sweet potatoes in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush a generous amount of the maple glaze over each piece.
6. Bake the Sweet Potatoes:
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast for 20 minutes. Flip the slices over, brush with more glaze, and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes until the edges are golden and caramelized.
7. Final Touch and Serve:
Remove the sweet potatoes from the oven and let them sit for 5 minutes before serving. Drizzle any remaining glaze over the top for added flavor.
