Oven-Baked Mini Panettone French Toast Delight
Ingredients
- 4 mini panettone (Costco's Borgo de Medici Assorted)
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- Fresh berries for serving (optional)
- Maple syrup for drizzling (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Set a rack in the middle of the oven for even baking.
2. Prepare Baking Dish
Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
3. Slice Panettone
Cut each mini panettone into thick slices, approximately 1 inch in thickness. Arrange the slices snugly in the prepared baking dish.
4. Create Custard Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until smooth and well combined.
5. Soak Panettone Slices
Pour the custard mixture over the arranged mini panettone slices, ensuring each slice is fully submerged and soaking in the mixture. Use a spatula to gently press the panettone down to absorb the liquid.
6. Bake the French Toast
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 30 minutes covered. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
7. Serve
Remove from oven. Let it cool slightly for about 5 minutes. Serve warm with fresh berries and a drizzle of maple syrup if desired.
