Deliciously Simple Cinnamon Nutmeg Breakfast Muffins
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners or lightly grease with cooking spray.
2. Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, salt, ground nutmeg, ground cinnamon, baking soda, and baking powder. Stir until well blended.
3. Prepare the Wet Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the large egg, buttermilk, and vegetable oil until thoroughly combined.
4. Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures
Create a well in the center of the dry mixture and pour in the wet mixture. Stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix; the batter should be slightly lumpy.
5. Fill the Muffin Cups
Use a spoon or scoop to evenly distribute the batter into the prepared muffin cups, filling each about 2/3 full.
6. Bake the Muffins
Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of a muffin comes out clean.
7. Cool and Serve
Allow muffins to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve warm or at room temperature for a delightful breakfast treat.
