Delicious Apple Cinnamon Sugar Cookie Bars
Ingredients
- 1 package sugar cookie mix (approx. 17.5 oz)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 can (21 oz) apple pie filling
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
- Set your oven to 350°F.
- Allow it to fully preheat while you prepare the ingredients.
2. Prepare the Cookie Base:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar cookie mix, melted butter, and egg.
- Mix until fully integrated and a dough forms. The mixture should be slightly sticky but manageable.
3. Layer the Dough:
- Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Spread about two-thirds of the sugar cookie dough evenly across the bottom of the baking dish. Use your fingers or a spatula to press it down and form an even layer.
4. Add the Apple Filling:
- Evenly spread the canned apple pie filling over the cookie dough layer.
- Gently spread it out with a spoon or spatula to cover the entire dough surface.
5. Add Cinnamon Top Layer:
- To the remaining cookie dough, add the ground cinnamon and mix well.
- Crumble the cinnamon-infused dough over the top of the apple filling. It doesn’t have to cover it completely; gaps will give the bars a rustic look.
6. Bake:
- Transfer the dish to the middle rack of the preheated oven.
- Bake for 40 minutes or until the top is golden brown and cooked through.
7. Cool and Serve:
- Allow the bars to cool in the baking dish for at least 20 minutes to set.
