Oven-Roasted Spiced Corned Beef Brisket
Ingredients
- 4 lbs corned beef brisket
- 1 tablespoon dill seeds
- 1 tablespoon allspice berries
- 5 whole cloves
- 1 tablespoon mustard seeds
- 1 tablespoon coriander seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon black peppercorns
- 3 bay leaves
- Aluminum foil, for wrapping
Instructions
1. Prepare the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Prepare the Spice Mix:
- In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon dill seeds, 1 tablespoon allspice berries, 5 whole cloves, 1 tablespoon mustard seeds, 1 tablespoon coriander seeds, 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes, 1 tablespoon black peppercorns, and 3 bay leaves. Crush slightly with the back of a spoon to release their flavors.
3. Wrap the Brisket:
- Place the 4 lbs corned beef brisket on a large piece of aluminum foil. Generously sprinkle the spice mix over the brisket, pressing the spices onto the meat to adhere.
4. Seal and Roast:
- Wrap the brisket tightly in the foil to create a snug seal. Place the foil-wrapped brisket on a baking sheet to catch any drippings.
- Roast in the preheated oven for about PT3H30M or 3 hours and 30 minutes, until the brisket is tender and aromatic.
5. Rest and Serve:
- Carefully remove the brisket from the oven and allow it to rest for about PT20M or 20 minutes before unwrapping to let the juices redistribute.
- Unwrap the brisket and slice against the grain for the most tender bites.
