Succulent Oven-Roasted Brisket with Onion and Balsamic Glaze



Ingredients



- 4 lbs beef brisket
- 1 packet Lipton Onion Soup Mix
- 2 large fresh onions, thinly sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
- 3/4 cup horseradish sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions



1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).

2. Prepare the Brisket: Take the brisket and pat it dry with paper towels. Season generously on both sides with salt and pepper.

3. Sear the Brisket: In a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the brisket and sear each side until a rich brown crust forms, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove the brisket and set aside.

4. Sauté Onions and Garlic: In the same pot, reduce the heat to medium and add the thinly sliced onions. Sauté until soft and golden brown, about 8 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.

5. Deglaze with Vinegar: Pour in the balsamic vinegar to deglaze the pot, scraping up any fond (browned bits) from the bottom. Allow it to simmer for 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.

6. Prepare the Glaze: Stir in the Lipton Onion Soup Mix and horseradish sauce until well combined with the onions and garlic.

7. Roast: Return the brisket to the pot, nestled into the onion mixture. Spoon some glaze over the top.

8. Cover and Cook: Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid. Place in the preheated oven and roast for approximately 3-4 hours, or until the brisket is tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.

9. Rest and Slice: Remove the brisket from the oven and allow it to rest in the pot for about 15 minutes. Transfer to a cutting board and slice against the grain.

10. Serve: Serve warm, generously topped with the balsamic onion glaze from the pot.
