Caramelized Peach Delight
Ingredients
- 4 ripe peaches, halved and pitted
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- A pinch of salt
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts, optional
- Mint leaves for garnish, optional
Instructions
1. Prepare the Peaches:
- Wash the peaches thoroughly under cold water and pat them dry with a towel. Carefully cut each peach in half and remove the pit.
2. Mix the Sugar Blend:
- In a small bowl, combine the light brown sugar, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Mix until well combined.
3. Preheat the Skillet:
- Heat a medium-sized, non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the unsalted butter and allow it to melt completely without browning.
4. Caramelize the Peaches:
- Place the peach halves, cut side down, into the skillet. Sprinkle the sugar mixture evenly over the peaches.
- Allow the peaches to cook for about 5–7 minutes or until the sugar starts to caramelize and bubble, and the peaches soften slightly.
5. Optional Walnuts:
- If using, add the chopped walnuts to the skillet during the last 2 minutes of cooking, stirring occasionally to toast them.
6. Serve:
- Carefully remove the caramelized peach halves from the skillet using a spatula and arrange them on a serving platter. Drizzle any remaining caramel sauce from the skillet over the peaches.
- Garnish with a sprinkle of toasted walnuts (if used) and fresh mint leaves.
