Apple-Cinnamon Walnut Crumble with Caramel-Infused Graham Cookie Crust
Ingredients
For the Crust:
- 1 cup graham crackers, finely crushed
- 1/2 cup key lime cookies, finely crushed
- 1/4 cup vegan butter, melted
For the Filling:
- 5 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced thinly
- 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce (vegan if preferred)
- 3 tablespoons vegan butter, cut into small pieces
For the Topping:
- 1 cup whipped cream (vegan if needed)
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Prepare the Crust:
- In a medium bowl, combine the graham crackers and key lime cookies with the melted vegan butter. Mix until evenly moistened.
- Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch round baking dish to form a firm, even crust.
3. Prepare the Filling:
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, chopped walnuts, and ground cinnamon.
- Gently toss with half of the caramel sauce until the apples are well-coated.
- Spread the apple mixture evenly over the prepared crust.
- Dot the top with the small pieces of vegan butter.
4. Bake the Dessert:
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 40 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
5. Finish with Caramel:
- Remove the dish from the oven and drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over the top while still warm.
6. Chill and Serve:
- Allow the dessert to cool slightly, then chill in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes.
- Before serving, top with dollops of whipped cream.
