Baked Apple Medley with Concord Glaze and Toasted Walnuts
Ingredients
- 2 Granny Smith apples, cored and sliced
- 2 Honeycrisp apples, cored and sliced
- 1 cup Concord grape juice
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Prepare the Apples
Lay the sliced Granny Smith and Honeycrisp apples in a single layer in a baking dish. Ensure the slices are evenly distributed for consistent cooking.
3. Make the Grape Glaze
In a small saucepan over medium heat, simmer the Concord grape juice for about 5 minutes or until it reduces slightly and thickens.
4. Toast the Walnuts
Meanwhile, spread the chopped walnuts on a baking sheet and toast in the preheated oven for 5 minutes. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
5. Combine and Season
Pour the reduced Concord grape juice over the apples, making sure every piece is coated. Sprinkle the ground cinnamon and kosher salt evenly over the apples.
6. Bake the Apples
Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for approximately 20 minutes, or until the apples are tender and slightly caramelized at the edges.
7. Add Walnuts and Serve
Remove the baked apples from the oven and sprinkle the toasted walnuts on top. Serve warm for the best flavor experience.
