Baked Mediterranean Cheese Dip
Ingredients
- 2 cups cottage cheese
- 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
- 1/4 cup sliced pickled peppers
- 1/4 cup sliced olives
- 1/4 cup pickled onions, chopped
- 1/2 cup cooked chopped bacon
- 1/2 cup cooked crumbled sausage
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
- Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and allow it to preheat while you assemble the dip.
2. Prepare the Cheese Base
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cottage cheese, half of the sun-dried tomatoes, grated Parmesan cheese, oregano, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
3. Infuse with Flavors
- Drizzle the olive oil into the mixture and incorporate the fresh basil, sliced pickled peppers, sliced olives, and chopped pickled onions. Stir gently to maintain the texture of the ingredients.
4. Add Meats
- Fold in the cooked chopped bacon and crumbled sausage, ensuring they are spread throughout the mixture.
5. Transfer and Bake
- Spoon the mixture into an ovenproof dish and spread it evenly. Sprinkle the remaining sun-dried tomatoes over the top.
6. Bake the Dip
- Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 25 minutes, or until the edges are bubbly and the top is slightly golden.
7. Garnish and Cool
- Once out of the oven, allow the dip to cool slightly. Garnish with additional fresh basil if desired.
