Beefy Cheesy Pasta Bake with Savory Toppings
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 large white onion, diced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 8 oz rotini pasta
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup sautéed mushrooms
- 1/2 cup crumbled bacon
- 1/2 cup fresh tomatoes, diced
- 1/2 cup onion rings, pre-cooked
- 1 cup french fries, pre-cooked
- 1 sliced avocado
- 1/4 cup banana peppers, sliced
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Cook the Pasta:
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add rotini pasta and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
3. Prepare the Beef Mixture:
In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add diced onions and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula, about 7 minutes.
4. Make the Sauce:
Sprinkle flour over the beef mixture, stirring constantly for 1 minute. Gradually add beef broth, stir in heavy cream, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
5. Assemble the Bake:
In a large oven-safe dish, combine cooked pasta with the beef sauce. Fold in 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese, sautéed mushrooms, and crumbled bacon.
6. Bake:
Top with the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
7. Garnish and Serve:
Remove from the oven and top with fresh tomatoes, onion rings, french fries, sliced avocado, and banana peppers. Serve immediately.
