Buttery Garlic Herb Shrimp with Lemon Zest
Ingredients
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
1. Prep the Shrimp
- Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture.
- Season the shrimp with salt and black pepper, making sure they are evenly coated.
2. Infuse the Oil
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil.
- Once the oil begins to shimmer, add the minced garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute, being careful not to burn the garlic.
3. Cook the Shrimp
- Increase the heat to medium-high and add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet in a single layer.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until the shrimp turn pink and are opaque in the center. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
4. Prepare the Sauce
- In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the butter. Allow it to melt and begin to brown.
- Stir in the lemon juice and lemon zest, scraping up any brown bits from the bottom of the skillet.
5. Combine and Finish
- Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet, tossing them in the buttery garlic and lemon sauce to ensure each piece is coated.
- Remove from heat and sprinkle with chopped parsley for garnish.
6. Serve
- Transfer the shrimp to a serving platter and enjoy immediately. Pair with your choice of pasta, rice, or a fresh salad.
