Caramelized Apricot Delight
Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh apricots, washed, pitted, and halved
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
1. Prep the Apricots: Wash the apricots thoroughly. Slice each apricot in half and remove the pits. Set them aside.
2. Melt the Butter: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat on the stove. Stir occasionally to prevent browning. This should take about 2 minutes.
3. Add the Sugar: Once the butter has melted, add the dark brown sugar. Stir continuously until the sugar has dissolved and begins to bubble, around 3 minutes.
4. Infuse Flavors: Stir in the ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Mix well to combine, ensuring the aromatic flavors are evenly distributed throughout the caramelized sugar mixture.
5. Cook the Apricots: Gently add the apricot halves to the skillet, cut side down. Allow them to cook undisturbed for 5-6 minutes or until the undersides start to caramelize and turn golden brown.
6. Flip and Finish: Carefully flip the apricots and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until they are tender but not mushy.
7. Serve: Once done, remove the skillet from the heat. Use a spoon to drizzle the caramel sauce over the apricots. Serve warm either alone or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent treat.
