Charcoal-Grilled Pineapple Skewers
Ingredients
- 1 whole ripe pineapple
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Wooden skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes
Instructions
1. Prepare the Pineapple:
- Cut off the top and bottom of the pineapple. Stand the pineapple upright and carefully slice away the skin. Remove any remaining "eyes" with the tip of your knife.
- Slice the pineapple into quarters lengthwise, and then remove the core from each quarter. Cut each quarter into 1-inch thick pieces.
2. Mix the Glaze:
- In a small bowl, combine the honey, lime juice, ground cinnamon, brown sugar, and salt. Stir until the mixture is well combined.
3. Skewer the Pineapple:
- Thread the pineapple pieces onto the pre-soaked wooden skewers. Aim for 4 to 5 pieces per skewer, leaving some space between each piece for even cooking.
4. Prepare the Grill:
- Preheat your charcoal grill to a medium heat. Ensure the coals are evenly distributed for consistent cooking of the skewers.
5. Grill the Pineapple:
- Place the skewers on the grill. Brush the prepared glaze generously over the pineapple pieces. Grill the pineapple for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until caramelized grill marks appear and the fruit is heated through.
6. Final Touches:
- Remove the skewers from the grill and let them cool slightly. Serve warm as a refreshing snack.
