Cheddar and Pickle Open-Faced Broil
Ingredients
- 4 slices of bread
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 hard-boiled eggs, peeled and chopped
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup chopped pickles
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 medium tomato, thinly sliced
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 cup beer
Instructions
1. Preheat the Broiler:
Set your oven to broil and allow it to preheat for about 5 minutes.
2. Prepare the Wet Mixture:
In a mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and beer. Whisk until all ingredients are smoothly incorporated.
3. Assemble the Topping:
In a separate bowl, gently mix the chopped hard-boiled eggs, chopped pickles, and egg yolk. Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese. Gradually incorporate the wet mixture until the topping is well-coated.
4. Season and Taste:
Add salt and pepper to taste, then stir into the mixture for even distribution.
5. Prepare the Bread:
Lightly brush one side of each bread slice with olive oil. Arrange the slices oiled-side-down on a baking sheet.
6. Assemble the Sandwiches:
Evenly distribute the cheese and egg mixture on each slice of bread. Top each with an even layer of thinly sliced tomatoes.
7. Broil the Slices:
Place the baking sheet under the broiler for about 5 to 7 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden, and the bread edges are crisp. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.
8. Serve:
Once done, carefully remove from the oven. Allow cooling slightly before serving.
