Cheesy Bacon and Chive Breakfast Tart



Ingredients


- 1 ready-to-use pastry crust (9-inch)
- 6 slices bacon
- 1/4 cup fresh chives, finely chopped
- 2 cups shredded cheese (suggested: cheddar or Gruyere)
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 3 egg whites
- 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions



1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. Prepare the Bacon
Place the bacon slices in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook until crispy, about 5–7 minutes.
Once cooked, transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to cool. Crumble the cooled bacon into small pieces and set aside.

3. Prepare the Pastry Crust
Roll out the pastry crust and fit it into a 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom.
Press the crust gently into the bottom and sides. Trim any overhang.
Poke the bottom with a fork to prevent bubbles. (Optional: Blind bake the crust by covering it with parchment paper and using pie weights. Bake for 10 minutes, then remove weights and paper.)

4. Mix the Filling
In a large bowl, combine the egg whites, crumbled bacon, chopped chives, shredded cheese, nutmeg, and pepper.
Pour in the heavy cream and mix gently until all ingredients are well incorporated.

5. Assemble the Tart
Pour the filling mixture into the prepared pastry crust. Distribute evenly.

6. Bake the Tart
Transfer the tart to the preheated oven. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown.
To test doneness, insert a knife into the center — it should come out clean when done.

7. Cool and Serve
Allow the tart to cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy your delicious breakfast creation!
