Classic BLT Sandwich with Homemade Special Sauce
Ingredients
- 8 slices bacon
- 4 leaves lettuce
- 2 medium tomatoes, sliced
- 1 pinch salt
- 8 slices toast
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- Paper towels (for draining)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the 1/4 cup of mayonnaise and 2 tablespoons of ketchup. Stir well until the mixture is smooth and evenly mixed. Set the sauce aside for later use.
2. Cook the Bacon:
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the 8 slices of bacon to the skillet in a single layer.
- Cook the bacon for about 10 minutes, flipping occasionally, until crispy and browned.
- Once done, transfer the bacon to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess grease.
3. Prepare the Toast:
- While the bacon is cooking, toast the 8 slices of bread until golden brown. You can use a toaster or place them on an oven rack under a broiler for a few minutes per side.
4. Assemble the Sandwiches:
- Spread a generous layer of the homemade special sauce on one side of each toast slice.
- Start layering with 1 lettuce leaf on top of the sauce on 4 toast slices.
- Add 2 slices of tomato on top of the lettuce. Lightly sprinkle a pinch of salt over the tomatoes to enhance their flavor.
- Place 2 slices of crispy bacon on top of the tomatoes.
- Finish by topping the sandwich with the remaining toast slices, sauce side down.
5. Serve:
- Slice each sandwich in half for easier handling and serve immediately.
