Classic Butter Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 cup salted butter, softened
- 1 cup caster sugar
- 2 cups self-rising flour
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Prepare the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened salted butter and caster sugar until the mixture is light, fluffy, and pale in color. This should take about 3-4 minutes using an electric mixer on medium speed.
3. Combine the Ingredients:
Gradually add the self-rising flour to the creamed butter and sugar mixture. Beat on low speed until the flour is fully incorporated and the dough becomes smooth and cohesive.
4. Shape the Cookies:
Roll the dough into small balls, approximately 1 inch in diameter. Place them onto a baking sheet, lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart. You can slightly flatten the tops with the back of a fork for an even surface.
5. Bake:
Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown. Be careful not to overbake to maintain a soft, chewy center.
6. Cool:
Once baked, remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
