Classic Pumpkin Pie with a Twist
Ingredients
- 1 can (15 oz) canned pumpkin
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 can (12 fl oz) evaporated milk
- 1 unbaked 9-inch deep-dish pie crust
Instructions
1. Preheat Oven
Set your oven to 425°F.
2. Prepare the Filling
In a large mixing bowl, combine the canned pumpkin, sugar, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, ground ginger, and salt. Stir the mixture until all ingredients are well combined.
3. Mix in Eggs
Crack the eggs into the pumpkin mixture. Beat the eggs gently, integrating them thoroughly to create a smooth, homogenous mixture.
4. Incorporate the Milk
Gradually stir in the evaporated milk, ensuring it's well blended with the pumpkin mixture. Continue stirring until the filling is smooth and uniform.
5. Prepare the Pie Crust
Place the unbaked pie crust on a baking sheet for easy handling and to catch any spills. Position the baking sheet in an area convenient for filling the pie.
6. Fill the Crust
Carefully pour the pumpkin filling into the pie crust, filling it close to the rim. Be cautious to avoid overfilling and leave enough room for the filling to expand slightly during baking.
7. Initial Baking
Place the pie on the middle rack of the preheated oven. Bake at 425°F for 15 minutes.
8. Reduce Temperature
After the initial baking period, lower the oven temperature to 350°F. Continue baking for an additional 40 to 50 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a knife into the center of the pie. The pie is done if the knife comes out clean.
9. Cooling
