Cola-Spiked Breakfast Espresso Float
Ingredients
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 cup brewed espresso, chilled
- 1 cup cola
- 1 scoop vanilla ice cream
- 1 scoop gelato (any flavor)
- 1 teaspoon coffee liqueur
- 1 teaspoon dark rum
- 1 teaspoon amaro
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1 tablespoon coffee beans, crushed (for garnish)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Base:
- In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the whole milk and ground spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom).
- Microwave on high for 1-2 minutes (PT2M) until the milk is warm but not boiling. Stir to blend the spices into the milk, creating a spiced infusion.
2. Create the Espresso Cola Layer:
- In a tall glass, mix the chilled brewed espresso and cola. Add the coffee liqueur, dark rum, and amaro to the mixture. Stir gently.
- Carefully pour the spiced milk into the glass. This should create a layered look in the glass.
3. Add the Frozen Elements:
- Place one scoop of vanilla ice cream and one scoop of gelato on top of the espresso cola layer. Allow a moment for the ice cream and gelato to melt slightly and blend into the beverage, enhancing its creaminess.
4. Garnish and Serve:
- Sprinkle the crushed coffee beans over the top of the float. This will add a pleasing aroma and a bit of crunch.
- Serve immediately with a long spoon and a straw for sipping and enjoying the float’s layers.
