Cranberry Orange Breakfast Scones with Vanilla Glaze

For the Vanilla Glaze:



- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions



1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

2. Prepare the Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup of white granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Whisk together until evenly mixed.

3. Incorporate the Butter: Add the 1/2 cup of chilled, diced unsalted butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

4. Mix in Fruits and Zest: Gently fold in the 1 cup of chopped fresh cranberries and 1 tablespoon of orange zest.

5. Add Wet Ingredients: In a small bowl, whisk together the 1/2 cup of buttermilk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients.
