Creamy Custard and Fruit Puff Pastry Delight

Ingredients

- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 3 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 cup custard
- 2 apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 2 nectarines, sliced
- 1/4 cup Nutella
- 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
- 1/2 cup cheese, grated (preferably mild cheddar)
- 2 teaspoons pesto
- 2 tomatoes, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup pecans, chopped
- 1/4 cup cranberries
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 package active dry yeast
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk

Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough:
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in 1/4 cup of warm milk. Let it sit for approximately 5 minutes or until frothy.

2. Mix the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add the yeast mixture, softened butter, and remaining milk to the dry ingredients.
- Stir until a dough forms, and then knead for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.

3. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

4. Roll the Puff Pastry:
- On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to about 1/4 inch thick. Place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

5. Prepare the Creamy Mixture:
- In a medium bowl, mix the cream cheese, custard, and 1 tablespoon of honey until smooth.

6. Assemble the Pastry:
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a 1-inch border.
- Layer the apple slices, nectarine slices, and tomato slices on top of the cream cheese mixture.
- Dot with Nutella and pumpkin puree, then sprinkle with cinnamon and lemon juice.
- Sprinkle the grated cheese, pecans, and cranberries over the fruit.

7. Bake:
- Fold the edges of the puff pastry over the filling to create a border.
- Brush the edges with a beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and the fruit is tender.

8. Drizzle and Serve:
- Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
- Drizzle with remaining honey and a thin layer of pesto for an added flavor twist.
- Slice and serve warm, or allow to cool to room temperature.
