Creamy Gin-Infused Rigatoni with Penne
Ingredients
- 8 oz rigatoni
- 8 oz penne
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup gin
- 1 1/2 cups pasta sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
Instructions
1. Cook the Pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil on the stove over high heat. Add the rigatoni and penne, cooking them together until al dente, about 10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
2. Prepare the Sauce Base
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, pour in the gin, allowing the alcohol to cook off for about 2 minutes while stirring occasionally.
3. Incorporate Cream
Gradually add the heavy cream to the skillet, stirring continuously. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 3 minutes until the mixture slightly thickens.
4. Add Pasta Sauce
Mix in the pasta sauce, ensuring it is fully integrated with the cream. Simmer for another 5 minutes, stirring periodically to prevent sticking.
5. Season the Sauce
Sprinkle in the Italian seasoning and white pepper, blending well with the sauce. Continue to let it simmer on low for an additional 3 minutes. Adjust seasoning to taste if needed.
6. Combine Pasta and Sauce
Gently fold the cooked rigatoni and penne into the sauce, ensuring each piece is thoroughly coated. Allow the pasta to heat through for about 2 minutes.
7. Serve
Remove from heat and serve immediately while hot. Garnish with optional fresh basil or grated parmesan cheese for an added touch.
