Creamy Parmesan and Bacon Corn Delight
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 4 cups frozen corn, thawed
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
Instructions
1. Prepare the Bacon:
- Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the bacon, drain on paper towels, and crumble once cool. Reserve 1 tablespoon of bacon grease in the skillet.
2. Make the Roux:
- In the same skillet, add the butter to the reserved bacon grease and melt over medium heat.
- Sprinkle in the flour, stirring continuously for 1-2 minutes to form a smooth paste and remove the raw flour taste.
3. Create the Cream Sauce:
- Gradually whisk in the heavy cream until fully incorporated, ensuring no lumps.
- Add the cream cheese and stir until melted and the mixture is smooth.
4. Season the Sauce:
- Stir in the sugar, salt, and black pepper. Let the sauce simmer gently for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
5. Incorporate the Parmesan and Corn:
- Add the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring until completely melted into the sauce.
- Fold in the thawed corn, ensuring it is evenly coated with the creamy sauce. Continue to cook for another 5 minutes, allowing corn to warm through and absorb flavors.
6. Finish and Serve:
- Stir in half of the crumbled bacon until well distributed.
- Transfer the creamy corn mixture to a serving dish and garnish with the remaining bacon crumbles for a delightful contrast.
- Serve hot as a comforting dinner dish.
