Creamy Vanilla Stove-Top Pudding
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons salted butter
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 cups milk
Instructions
1. Prepare the Butter Mixture:
Place a medium-sized saucepan on the stove over medium heat. Add 4 tablespoons of salted butter and allow it to melt completely.
2. Mix in the Powdered Sugar:
Once the butter has melted, slowly sift in 1 cup of powdered sugar while continuously stirring with a whisk to ensure there are no lumps and the mixture is smooth.
3. Incorporate the Milk:
Gradually pour 2 cups of milk into the saucepan, stirring constantly to blend it with the butter-sugar mixture.
4. Heat Until Thickened:
Continue to cook over medium heat, stirring frequently. After about 7-10 minutes, the mixture should start to thicken. To test, insert a spoon into the mixture; the pudding should coat the back of the spoon.
5. Add Vanilla Extract:
Once the mixture thickens, remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract until fully combined.
6. Chill and Serve:
Allow the pudding to cool slightly before transferring it to serving dishes. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to set. Serve chilled for best results.
