Crispy Baked Guava Chips
Ingredients
- 4 ripe guavas
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted
Instructions
1. Preheat and Prepare:
Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to ensure the guava chips do not stick.
2. Slice the Guavas:
Wash the guavas thoroughly under cold water. Using a sharp knife, slice the guavas into thin rounds, approximately 1/8 inch thick. Aim for uniform thickness to ensure even baking.
3. Mix the Coating:
In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
4. Toss the Guavas:
In a large mixing bowl, gently toss the guava slices with the lemon juice and melted coconut oil until well coated. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the guava slices and toss again to distribute evenly.
5. Arrange on Baking Sheet:
Lay the guava slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Ensure that none of the slices overlap.
6. Bake:
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 1 hour. Flip the guava slices halfway through the cooking time to ensure both sides crisp up evenly.
7. Cool and Serve:
Once the guava chips are golden and crispy, remove them from the oven. Allow them to cool on the baking sheet for about 10 minutes. Serve immediately, or store in an airtight container for later consumption.
