Crispy Oven-Baked Parmesan Pork Chops
Ingredients
- 4 boneless pork chops (about 1-inch thick)
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- Cooking spray
Instructions
1. Preparation:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with aluminum foil and lightly coat it with cooking spray.
2. Prepare Buttermilk Mixture:
- Pour 1 cup of buttermilk into a shallow dish.
- Submerge the boneless pork chops in the buttermilk, ensuring each is well-coated. Let them marinate for about 10 minutes.
3. Prepare Breading Mixture:
- In another shallow dish, combine 1 cup of Italian seasoned bread crumbs, 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of pepper, mixing thoroughly.
4. Bread the Pork Chops:
- Remove each pork chop from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off.
- Gently press the pork chop into the bread crumb mixture, coating evenly on both sides. Press down to ensure the coating adheres well.
5. Bake the Pork Chops:
- Place the breaded pork chops on the prepared baking sheet.
- Lightly spray the top of each pork chop with cooking spray to help achieve a golden crust.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C), and the breading is golden brown.
6. Final Touch:
- Allow the pork chops to rest for 5 minutes before serving. This helps the juices redistribute, making them tender and juicy.
