Crispy Oven-Roasted Chickpea Snack
Ingredients
- 2 cans (15 oz each) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
1. Preheat Oven
Set your oven to 400°F (approximately 204°C) to allow it to heat up fully before placing the chickpeas. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
2. Prepare Chickpeas
After draining and rinsing the chickpeas thoroughly, pat them dry with a clean towel or paper towels. The drier the chickpeas, the crispier the results.
3. Season Chickpeas
In a large mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Add the chickpeas to the bowl and toss until they are evenly coated with the spice mixture.
4. Spread on Baking Sheet
Spread the seasoned chickpeas in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Ensure there is enough space around each chickpea for even roasting.
5. Roast Chickpeas
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Roast the chickpeas for 30 to 35 minutes, shaking the baking sheet every 10 minutes to ensure even cooking. Roast until they are golden brown and crispy.
6. Cool and Serve
Once roasted, remove the chickpeas from the oven and allow them to cool slightly. Serve warm or at room temperature for the best snacking experience.
