Crunchy Stove-Top Nacho Kale Chips
Ingredients
- 1 bunch of kale
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup nutritional yeast
Instructions
1. Prepare the Kale: Start by washing the kale thoroughly under cold water. Remove the stems and tear the leaves into 2-inch pieces. Pat dry with a paper towel or a clean kitchen towel to ensure they are completely dry.
2. Season the Kale: Place the kale pieces into a large mixing bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and toss until every piece is coated evenly.
3. Mix the Spices: In a small bowl, combine smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, ground cumin, salt, and black pepper. Sprinkle the spice mixture over the kale, followed by nutritional yeast. Toss well to ensure each piece is fully seasoned.
4. Heat the Stove: Set a large non-stick or cast-iron skillet over medium heat.
5. Cook the Kale Chips: Once the skillet is hot, add the seasoned kale in a single layer. Depending on the size of your skillet, you may need to do this in batches. Cook for approximately 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the kale pieces are crispy and golden brown.
6. Cool and Serve: Remove the kale chips from the skillet once they're crisp. Allow them to cool for a few minutes on a wire rack or paper towel to ensure they maintain their crunch. Enjoy immediately for the best flavor and texture.
