Decadent Chocolate Coffee Cake
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup hot brewed coffee
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
2. Combine Dry Ingredients:
- In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
3. Cream Butter and Sugar:
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
4. Incorporate Eggs and Vanilla:
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
5. Mix in Sour Cream:
- Blend in the sour cream until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
6. Combine with Dry Ingredients:
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just blended.
7. Add Coffee:
- Slowly pour in the hot coffee, mixing until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin, which is normal.
8. Bake the Cake:
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
9. Cool the Cake:
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
