Decadent Dark Chocolate-Covered Pretzels
Ingredients
- 4 cups pretzels
- 12 ounces dark chocolate chips
- Optional: Sea salt for sprinkling
Instructions
1. Prepare the Work Area
Begin by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking. This will be your workspace for cooling the chocolate-covered pretzels.
2. Melt the Chocolate
- Fill a medium saucepan with about an inch of water and bring it to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
- Place the dark chocolate chips in a heat-proof bowl that fits snugly over the saucepan, ensuring the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water (This creates a double boiler effect).
- Stir the chocolate consistently until it's fully melted and smooth, which should take approximately PT5M (5 minutes). Be careful not to overheat the chocolate.
3. Dip the Pretzels
- Once the chocolate is melted, use a fork or dipping tool to dip each pretzel into the chocolate, ensuring a full, even coating.
- Lift the pretzel and gently tap the fork against the bowl's edge to allow excess chocolate to drip off.
- Place the chocolate-covered pretzel on the prepared baking sheet.
- If desired, sprinkle a small pinch of sea salt on each pretzel before the chocolate sets for a sweet-salty flavor contrast.
4. Set the Chocolate
Allow the pretzels to sit at room temperature for about PT20M (20 minutes) or until the chocolate hardens. For a quicker set, refrigerate the baking sheet for approximately PT10M (10 minutes).
5. Serve or Store
Once set, the pretzels are ready to enjoy. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
