Decadent Double Chocolate Brownies
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup light olive oil
- 1/4 cup canola oil
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch square baking pan with butter or line with parchment paper for easy removal.
2. Melt and Mix: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted unsalted butter, light olive oil, and canola oil. Whisk in the granulated sugar and brown sugar until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
3. Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add the vanilla extract, large eggs, and egg yolk to the sugar mixture. Whisk until the ingredients are fully incorporated, and the batter appears glossy.
4. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the unsweetened cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and fine sea salt. Ensure they are thoroughly mixed.
5. Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Stir carefully until just combined; do not overmix. If desired, gently fold in the chocolate chips at this stage.
6. Transfer to Pan: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
7. Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs attached (do not overbake).
8. Cool and Serve: Allow the brownies to cool in the pan on a wire rack for at least 15 minutes before slicing. This will help achieve clean edges when cutting.
