Decadent Double Chocolate Fudge Cake
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
2. Prepare the Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix until well combined.
3. Mix Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, lightly beat the eggs. Then, add the whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
4. Combine Ingredients
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing on medium speed until smooth.
5. Incorporate Boiling Water
Reduce the mixer speed to low and carefully add the boiling water to the batter. Mix until the batter is smooth and well combined. It will be thin, which is expected.
6. Bake
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking pans. Place them in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes. Check doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center of the cakes; it should come out clean.
7. Cool the Cakes
Once baked, remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 5 minutes. Turn them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
8. Serve
Once cooled, you may frost the cakes with your choice of frosting or serve as-is for a rich, chocolatey flavor. Slice and enjoy!
