Decadent Fruit Crisp with a Trio of Spirits



Ingredients


- 4 medium plums, pitted and sliced
- 3 nectarines, pitted and sliced
- 2 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 2 pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 2 tablespoons Calvados
- 2 tablespoons Bourbon
- 2 tablespoons Rum
- 1 cup walnuts, chopped
- 1 cup gluten-free flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced

Instructions


1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F.

2. Prepare the Fruit Filling
In a large bowl, combine the plums, nectarines, apples, and pears.
Add 1 cup of sugar, 2 tablespoons of cornstarch, and the juice of one lemon.
Mix well to ensure the fruit is evenly coated.
Stir in the Calvados, Bourbon, and Rum. Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes to macerate the fruit and allow the flavors to blend.

3. Chop and Incorporate Walnuts
Add 1 cup of chopped walnuts to the fruit mixture, stirring gently to incorporate.

4. Make the Crisp Topping
In a separate bowl, combine 1 cup of gluten-free flour with 1 cup of brown sugar.
Cut in the 1/2 cup of chilled, cubed butter using a pastry cutter or two forks until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

5. Assemble the Crisp
Transfer the fruit mixture to a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Evenly sprinkle the butter-flour mixture over the top of the fruit.

6. Bake
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbly.

7. Cool and Serve
Allow the fruit crisp to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving. This will help the filling to set. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
