Decadent Strawberry Jam Delight
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and diced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown cane sugar
- 2 tablespoons concentrated lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon fruit pectin
Instructions
1. Prepare the Strawberries:
Rinse and hull the strawberries. Chop them into small pieces to ensure even cooking and enhanced flavor distribution.
2. Combine Ingredients:
In a large, heavy-bottomed saucepan, place the chopped strawberries, granulated sugar, brown cane sugar, concentrated lemon juice, and fruit pectin. Mix well to combine all the ingredients thoroughly.
3. Start the Cooking Process:
Place the saucepan on the stove over medium-high heat. Stir continuously to prevent the mixture from sticking to the bottom. As the strawberries begin to break down, the mixture will become more liquid.
4. Bring to a Boil:
Once the mixture reaches a rolling boil that cannot be stirred down, keep stirring frequently. This process should take approximately 10 minutes.
5. Monitor Consistency:
Reduce the heat to medium and allow the strawberry mixture to simmer, stirring occasionally. The jam should start to thicken within 15 minutes. To test the consistency, spoon a small amount onto a chilled plate. If it holds shape, the jam is ready. If not, continue simmering for a few more minutes.
6. Finalize and Store:
Once the desired consistency is achieved, remove the saucepan from heat. Let the jam cool slightly before ladling it into sterilized jars. Seal the jars and let them cool at room temperature before refrigerating.
