Delicious Cinnamon Swirl Coffee Cake
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup icing, for drizzle
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
2. Prepare the Dry Ingredients:
In a medium bowl, sift together 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp baking soda, and 1/4 tsp salt. Set aside.
3. Mix the Wet Ingredients:
In a large bowl, cream 1/2 cup of softened butter and 1 cup of granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Gradually add 2 large eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in 1/2 cup sour cream and 1 tsp vanilla extract until smooth.
4. Combine Dry and Wet Ingredients:
Gradually fold in the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Ensure there are no streaks of flour.
5. Create the Cinnamon Swirl:
In a small bowl, combine 1/3 cup brown sugar and 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon.
6. Assemble the Cake:
Pour half of the batter into the prepared cake pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the batter. Add the remaining batter, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon-sugar mixture on the top.
7. Bake the Cake:
Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
8. Cool and Glaze:
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Drizzle 1/2 cup of icing over the cooled cake for that perfect sweet touch.
