Delicious Cranberry Compote for a Flavorful Dinner
Ingredients
- 2 cups organic cranberries
- 1 cup organic cane sugar
- 1 cup filtered water
- 2 tablespoons organic lemon juice concentrate
- 1/4 cup high fructose corn syrup
- 1/4 cup corn syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon citric acid
Instructions
1. Prepare the Cranberries:
- Rinse the organic cranberries under cold water, removing any damaged or bruised berries.
- Set them aside to drain thoroughly.
2. Combine Ingredients:
- In a medium-sized saucepan, combine 1 cup filtered water, 1 cup organic cane sugar, 1/4 cup high fructose corn syrup, 1/4 cup corn syrup, and 1/2 teaspoon citric acid.
- Stir the mixture well over medium heat until the sugars dissolve completely.
3. Cook the Cranberries:
- Add the rinsed cranberries to the saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer.
- Allow the cranberries to cook for approximately 10-12 minutes, until they start to pop and soften. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
4. Finish with Lemon Juice:
- Once the cranberries are softened, remove the saucepan from heat.
- Stir in 2 tablespoons organic lemon juice concentrate and mix well.
5. Cool and Serve:
- Allow the cranberry compote to cool for at least 10 minutes before serving. The compote will thicken as it cools.
- Transfer to a serving dish and serve warm or at room temperature as a delightful side dish to complement your dinner.
