Deliciously Creamy Breakfast Oat Duo with Maple and Brown Sugar
Ingredients
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 cup steel-cut oats
- 2 cups non-dairy milk
- 2 cups water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1/2 cup milk (for serving)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Oats:
Combine the old-fashioned rolled oats and steel-cut oats in a medium saucepan.
2. Add Liquid Ingredients:
Pour in 2 cups of non-dairy milk and 2 cups of water over the oats. Add the salt and stir to ensure even distribution.
3. Heat:
Place the saucepan on the stove over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
4. Reduce and Simmer:
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low. Cover the saucepan and let it simmer for approximately 25 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent the oats from sticking to the bottom.
5. Add Flavoring:
After 25 minutes, stir in the butter, brown sugar, and maple syrup. Mix until the butter melts and all ingredients are well combined. Continue to cook for an additional 5 minutes to thicken the oats, stirring occasionally.
6. Final Check:
Taste the oats and adjust sweetness if necessary. If you prefer a thinner consistency, stir in a little more non-dairy milk before serving.
7. Serve and Enjoy:
Divide the creamy oatmeal into bowls. Drizzle each serving with a splash of milk for added creaminess and flavor. Enjoy warm.
