Deliciously Nutty Baked Oat Bars
Ingredients
- 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 cup natural peanut butter or almond butter
- 1/2 cup maple syrup or honey
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven
Set your oven to 350°F. Allow it to fully preheat while you prepare the other ingredients.
2. Prepare the Baking Dish
Line an 8x8 inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the sides for easy lifting later.
3. Combine Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, add the old-fashioned rolled oats. Stir to ensure they're evenly distributed.
4. Mix Wet Ingredients
In a separate bowl, combine the natural peanut butter (or almond butter) and maple syrup (or honey). Stir until a smooth and consistent mixture forms.
5. Form the Mixture
Pour the wet mixture over the oats. Use a spatula to mix everything together until the oats are evenly coated and the mixture becomes cohesive.
6. Press and Shape
Transfer the oat mixture into the prepared baking dish. Press it down firmly and evenly with the back of a spoon or spatula, ensuring the surface is smooth.
7. Bake
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 20 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
8. Cool and Cut
Remove the dish from the oven and let it cool at room temperature for about 10 minutes. Then refrigerate for an additional 30 minutes to firm up. Once firm, lift the bars out using the parchment overhang and cut into even squares or bars.
