Delightful Baked Yam Crumble Cake
Ingredients
1. 2 large yams, peeled and cubed
2. 1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 oz box)
3. 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
4. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it is hot and ready for baking.
2. Prepare the Yams:
Peel and cube the yams into small, even pieces. Place the yam cubes into a medium-sized saucepan and cover them with water. Boil over medium-high heat for about 15 minutes, until the yams are fork-tender. Drain the water completely.
3. Mash the Yams:
Using a potato masher, mash the yams until smooth. If desired, use a hand mixer for a creamier consistency. Allow the mashed yams to cool slightly.
4. Mix Cake Ingredients:
In a mixing bowl, combine the cooled mashed yams and the yellow cake mix. Stir until fully integrated and smooth.
5. Assemble the Cake:
Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray. Pour the yam and cake mix batter into the dish, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
6. Prepare the Crumble Topping:
In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and ground cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the top of the batter in the baking dish.
7. Bake the Cake:
