Deviled Eggs with Bacon and Honey
Ingredients
- 6 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 4 slices bacon
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions
1. Prepare the Eggs
Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover them with cold water. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, remove the saucepan from the heat, cover it with a lid, and let the eggs sit for 12 minutes. This method will ensure perfectly cooked eggs.
2. Cool and Peel
After 12 minutes, transfer the eggs to a bowl filled with ice water. Let them cool for about 10 minutes. Once cooled, gently peel the eggs and set them aside.
3. Cook the Bacon
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy, about 6-8 minutes. Remove them from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess fat. Once cooled, crumble the bacon into small pieces and set aside.
4. Prepare the Egg Filling
Cut the peeled eggs in half lengthwise and carefully remove the yolks, placing them in a mixing bowl. Set the egg whites aside on a serving tray.
5. Mix the Filling
To the egg yolks, add the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, sugar, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, butter, honey, and salt. Mash together with a fork until smooth and well combined.
6. Fill the Egg Whites
Spoon the yolk mixture back into the hollow egg white halves or use a piping bag for a neater presentation.
7. Garnish and Serve
Top the filled eggs with crumbled bacon pieces and a small basil leaf. Arrange the deviled eggs on a tray and serve immediately.
