Divine Blackberry Cobbler: A Sweet Oven Delight
Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup self-rising flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups fresh blackberries
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Prepare the Baking Dish:
Take an 8x8-inch baking dish and pour the melted butter into it, ensuring the bottom is evenly coated.
3. Mix the Dry Ingredients:
In a medium-sized bowl, combine 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of self-rising flour, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Stir until these ingredients are well combined.
4. Add the Milk:
Gradually add 1 cup of whole milk to the dry mixture, stirring continuously until smooth and lump-free.
5. Pour the Batter:
Carefully pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking dish. Do not mix it with the butter. Let the butter pool around the edges.
6. Add the Blackberries:
Evenly distribute the 2 cups of fresh blackberries over the batter. The berries will sink slightly into the batter as it bakes.
7. Bake the Cobbler:
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the batter has set.
8. Cool and Serve:
Allow the cobbler to cool for about 10 minutes before serving. Best served warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
